Christmas Crunch
December 12, 2008
The plan back in November was to be done with all things Christmas by the beginning of December. That of course, did not happen and now I am cringing at the thought of having to brave the mall this weekend as I am heading back to London next Friday. If certain people would just give me an idea of what they want I would be done right now, but it turns out no one wants anything this year!

I have to admit though, I am feeling pretty indifferent as well. All I asked for was a sewing machine.......seriously, it will solve like 92% of life's problems.

If I don't end up with a sewing machine, that's ok too, because I've already registered to take some fun classes in the new year. By the end of February I will know how to make my own cute underwear and upholster a cube! I have also made a pact with Michelle to start taking yoga classes.

2009! The year of limber-ly modelling designer underpants while balanced on my upholstered cube!*

*/slash-bedside-table - Which is where I plan on putting it because I am sick having to get up to turn off the light when I'm done reading.

Of Montreal
April 20, 2008
Montreal was great! I didn't eat any poutine like I said I would, but I did eat fondue and french macarons and that counts for something! Friday was spent drinking sangria on the patio, wine in the hotel room and then vodka cranberries at the bar after the dance show. Saturday was spent shopping until my feet were bloody stumps, but oh my was it ever glorious! 7 hours was not enough time to cover all the shopping that is available there. We spent four hours in one store alone! I only managed to take four pictures because A. I hate feeling/looking like a tourist. B. My mother is a wannabe paparazzi and it embarrasses the crap out of me and C. Because we were really only there for a day and a half. This one is my favourite:

The only downside was that our hotel had a high school trip going on and all the kids were staying on our floor. And they all really liked to run up and down the hall yelling and slamming doors at ungodly hours. So I may or may not have stuck my head out the door at 3am and told them to 'Shut the Fuck Up.' The upside was the front desk had an unlimited supply of Chupa Chugs. Watermelon = Love.

Don't Worry There's a Bunny.
March 23, 2008
Happy Easter everyone!

I celebrated by eating Creme Eggs and cooking a turkey. Turkey for Jesus. Although last night D and I got to help play 'Bunny' for my friend Denise's son Ethan and that was a lot of fun. Especially since my step dad was the king of hiding eggs, he hid them so well we would be finding them weeks, even months later, so I've learned from the best. No one wants to be done looking in two minutes, kids should have to work for it!

Hope he found the ones we hid in your brand new couch!

Holiday Rewind
January 1, 2008
I know I'm late, but Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone! The holidays were a blur due to turkey coma and too much rum cake (of which I baked the best one ever!) and other then catching the 24-hour Death Flu as we're calling it, they were great. In fact, I had an overall very culinary Christmas.

I got:

- Wolfgang Puck 18 pc professional quality stainless steel cookware set.
- A cheese fondue pot with a lazy susan and all the jazz
- A chocolate fondue pot
- The sweetest punch bowl EVER (I can put the bowl over my head and pretend I'm a scuba diver)
- The new Nigella Express book (Actually I got 2 but exchanged one for Jamie Oliver)
- A bottle of yummy Smirnoff Grand cosmopolitan, among other things.

Oh, annnnnd Dirty Dancing tickets, which we went to see last Saturday night! It was awesome and I got a 'Nobody puts Baby in the corner' tank, although I have to say the the best part was my hand drawn card by my baby. <3

(You'll have to click for a better view)

New Year's was half really disappointing and half really fun. We went to Fionn Maccool's and it was mostly fun except the part where THEY DIDN'T EVEN DO A COUNTDOWN. A few people who were paying attention yelled 'Yeah!!' which led to everyone else in the bar looking around confused and then checking their phones and finding out we had missed the whole thing. How terrible is that? We did get a free round of shots, since they also failed to give us our mini champagne, probably because they were too busy forgetting it was NYE. The people beside us seemed to not care as they sucked face for what may have been the world's record.

Photos when I get them.

The Horror.
December 15, 2007
Today I began my xmas shopping. The Nightmare before Christmas should really have been about the horrors of visiting Walmart in December. You just shouldn't do it. The only good to come of it was that I ate an Egg McMuffin and found The Thin Red Line in the $5 DVD bin. I love that D's movie wish list is complied solely of crappy or old or crappy and old movies. It makes things so less expensive for me! I ended up grabbing Sideways for myself, I've never seen it but Sandra Oh is good, wine is good, and it was a still less then the cost of a rental. If it turns out to be sweet utter crap, I can always use it as a coaster or to scrape the ice off the windshield. There isn't a downside. I'd watch it tonight but my brother just informed me he has never seen Superbad and that's all I have to say about that.

The start of Christmas baking commences tomorrow along with my attempt at mimicking a Tortuga rum cake for D. (It gave me an excuse to buy a bundt pan!) I've still got a lot of shopping to do, a scarf to finish and a nail appointment to go to. Oh yea and I don't own winter boots yet and the stilettos on ice are starting to get a little dangerous. Can someone remind me why this time of the year is supposed to be fun?

Oh right. Because of booze.
