Last Day
December 31, 2008
2008 was a blur! I can't even believe that as of tomorrow I will have already been in Toronto for 6 months. Or that this exact time next year we will be celebrating 2010! I still remember being hunkered down in a basement for 2000 eating weird pizza combinations.

This year isn't going to be much different. We're having a 'New Years Catchall' for all the planless misfits and will turning the kitchen into a make-your-own pizza factory.  There are also a couple of birthdays today as well, so it should be a lot of fun.

As far as resolutions go, I haven't thought of any, 2008 was so good that I'm not sure I need one. 2009 already has a bunch of great things lined up, two new babies on the way and all the underwear I can make! The only thing that's missing is that camera I'm after. Maybe my resolution will be to save for that. Or find a bag of money. I always break that one.

Holiday Blurries
December 28, 2008
Holy jeeze Christmas was a blur! 9 days felt exactly like 2 and if I were to tell you what happened during that time 2 is about all I can recall.

But lookie what I got:

SQUEE!!!!! I don't even really need a food processor now because there is a slicer attachment for it. Heck, I don't even need to buy ice cream or flour ever again because there are attachments for those too! It will grind meat and stuff sausages and make pasta if you want it to. The only thing it doesn't do is make liquor, but I bet if I wait long enough they will come out with an attachment for that too.

I also got my sewing machine and a bunch of sweet cooking stuff. Dave got a grenade. I'm sentimental like that.

Oh Snowmaggedon, please don't ruin my life.
December 19, 2008

Hey Kids,

I am heading back to London today for the holidays and won't be posting until I get back. Mostly because I've been deathly afraid to use the basement office computer ever since my brother told me a centipede fell on his head. Centipedes falling on my head is just not something I can deal with, sorry. Besides, in addition to being assigned the task of doing all the holiday baking, I also have a scarf to complete, an apron to make and all that Christmas shopping I didn't do in the last two weekends to finish. Dave only gave me his wishlist yesterday and 90% of it can only be ordered online. The other 10% seems to be sold out everywhere. Go me!

My Christmas anxiety is at a level 9. But, to make myself feel better I am considering buying myself this. I've wanted one for well over a year and now seems as good a time as any. It's a lot of money but I am really good at justifying just about anything! Allow me to demonstrate.

Reasons Why I Should Buy Myself an Expensive DSLR Camera:

  • I've wanted one for a really long time.
  • I just turned 25
  • It will make this year's holiday photos that much nicer
  • I need one if I want to relaunch my site
  • I really don't care about the economy because I am poor anyways and buying nice things almost always makes me feel better.

Reasons I should not buy myself an Expensive DSLR camera:

  • It costs more then $500.

Looks like the pros out-weigh the cons baby!

Hope everyone has a fantastic Christmas!

Christmas Crunch
December 12, 2008
The plan back in November was to be done with all things Christmas by the beginning of December. That of course, did not happen and now I am cringing at the thought of having to brave the mall this weekend as I am heading back to London next Friday. If certain people would just give me an idea of what they want I would be done right now, but it turns out no one wants anything this year!

I have to admit though, I am feeling pretty indifferent as well. All I asked for was a sewing machine.......seriously, it will solve like 92% of life's problems.

If I don't end up with a sewing machine, that's ok too, because I've already registered to take some fun classes in the new year. By the end of February I will know how to make my own cute underwear and upholster a cube! I have also made a pact with Michelle to start taking yoga classes.

2009! The year of limber-ly modelling designer underpants while balanced on my upholstered cube!*

*/slash-bedside-table - Which is where I plan on putting it because I am sick having to get up to turn off the light when I'm done reading.

Vices
December 6, 2008
There are only two things I have giant collections of and never do anything with, Paper and Fabric. I can't even tell you why I love them so much, but the paper thing has existed since I was about four or five, when I would carefully open and save all the wrapping paper from my birthday parties and store it in a cardboard box, like it was a pile of important documents I was going to need later to do my taxes.

I'm still weird like that. Ephemera junkie extraordinaire.

Anyway, like this fire needed to be fueled:

The Paper Place is giving away A LOT of paper.

A lot meaning almost $2000 worth. One of each pattern they have in the store. You know what I would do with that much paper? Probably roll in it. Or organize it by colour and pattern.

And then store it in a box.

Bellydance Bellyache
December 3, 2008
My birthday was pretty good, I got a Le Creuset pot, among other things. He will not let me buy a deep fryer but throwing things into an open vat of boiling oil? ALL FOR IT!

The not-best part about the evening was when the belly dancer made me get up in front of the whole restaurant. I mostly just stood there laughing nervously and tried not to drop dead from embarrassment, but there's not pictures of that because we forgot the camera AGAIN.

It was also the first time in the history of my life that I did not finish dessert, but that was only because I somehow ended up with three. The one I ordered, the one they gave me because it was my birthday and the one Blair couldn't eat because she is allergic to everything that tastes good.

Having a hangover the next day = Nope.

Having to be cut out of my clothes with the jaws of life = Yup.
