Little Black Cloud

This past few days have been nothing but a string of unfortunate events which started and ended with a dishwasher. The story is this: I mentioned that A. I hate washing dishes and B. Wish I had more counter space to someone at work. They then informed me that they had a dishwasher with a butcher block top that I could have (for free!) as long as I picked it up from her storage unit.

Like you even needed to ask?

So on Saturday, I booked a Uhaul and enlisted Brandi to help me get it. The people at Uhaul are complete douchebags and made me go all the way out to Scarborough to get it instead of having a truck available at the Uhaul depot that is a two minute walk from my apartment. So really their $19.95 in town rental deal is actually $19.95 + $10 worth of kilometers I would not have used if they had been closer + $15 insurance they 'Strongly Recommend' you have, because if anything happens you are 100% responsible + $12 in gas + tax. We drove our $60 rental to the storage unit relatively problem free except for the once where we got stuck behind another Uhaul truck and caused a huge traffic jam but otherwise arrived without incident. But then it turned out that the person giving me the dishwasher has lost the key to her storage unit. She said she had called a locksmith to come cut it off, which would have been fine if he had bothered to show up and had not driven to London instead.

My co-worker felt completely awful about the whole situation and told me she would get the lock cut and deliver the dishwasher to my apartment in her own truck sometime next week, which happened to be today.  That all went to plan except for the part where I got BUSTED by building maintenance and told we weren't even allowed to have dishwashers.

Crap.

This would have turned out fine since he decided to turn a blind eye except that the elevator was FULL of people and one of them was this horrible chick who decided to FLIP OUT on me when I asked why they weren't allowed. Appartently she has had issues with her plumbing and felt the need to take it out on me.

The cherry on this cake is that you need a special adapter to connect the hose to your sink faucet and the one I bought-which is supposed to be standard-DOES NOT FIT.

Obviously it's cursed and needs to be set on fire to burn the evil out of it.
