What am I, Superwoman?
March 2, 2008
So Ikea was super great and we got to ride the Ikea shuttle bus which was actually very rundown/homemade looking and sounded like a Jetsons hover car either because the radio speakers were broken or the driver was just too lazy to tune the radio. It was very un-Ikea like really.

I, on the other hand, have absolutely no concept of reality apparently, as I was ready to return from there with all sorts of dishes and platters until Brandi mentioned dishes are very heavy to carry and I actually had to stop and think about how I had never even considered that scenario. I had only been worried about not smashing them on the way home, never mind carrying 50 lbs of stoneware over two subway transfers and down several city blocks for over an hour. I'm totally ripped remember? But since I am so stubborn, I was still determined to get at least some dishes since that was the whole purpose of the trip. I ended up hating the black and white dot ones once I saw them in the store so I picked up six of the floral and I will just have to trick someone with a car into taking me to pick up the rest of the set.

Brandi and I did find those perler beads that you used to lay out on a peg board and then melt together with an iron. We both ended up buying one of those giant tubs. D had never seen them before and pretty much hogged them all weekend and used up all the black ones outlining Nintendo characters. We ended up going to over to Jay and Brandi's for fondue and Trivial Pursuit--90's Edition!!--where the 'punishment' for getting a pie question right was to take a shot of tequila. I ended up getting extra punishment for being a loud mouth by yelling out other peoples answers and for being a jerk, which really just made me worse in the end because the more I drink the wittier I get. By the time we had finished the entire bottle we had all abandoned the game and were all about making Mario mushrooms out of the beads and wielding a hot iron while barely remembering our own names. Good times indeed! We also started a debate about whether green apples go with cheese. D and Brandi say no. I say yes and Jay says if it's food he will eat it.

Good! Because they do!

They thought apples and cheese was disgusting, but were ok with apples and chocolate.

Weirdos.

My Grandma always told me "Apple pie without cheese, was like a kiss without a squeeze". Apparently her Father-in-law used to say it all the time, and always had a piece of cheese with his apple pie.
