Unfinished Business
March 10, 2008
The list for today is unfinished projects. I am the absolute WORST for this. I am constantly starting things and then never, ever, finishing them. I've been like this my entire life and I have no idea know why. Whether it's due to a short attention span, taking on too many things at once or just being plain lazy, we will never know.

1. Alligator scarf. I spent way too much money on the kit, spent hours upon hours untangling the skein, got its head knitted and then couldn't figure out a very important step or a person who could help me with it, and so it was abandoned.

2. Aqua scarf. I knitted 2/3's of it and then just......stopped. It's been lying on the floor ever since.

3. Stevie scarf. My brother has been asking me to knit him a scarf for.............3 years? I've started it twice three times and quit three times because I didn't like the colour.

4. Ultimate spice rack. I spent a good two hours figuring out measurements and drafting a plan. Then I couldn't find the wood I needed. Now I'm not even sure if that's the design I want.

5. Button Machine. I bought a 1.25" button press off of eBay so I could make some sick ass buttons. As soon as I got it I wished I had bought the 1" button press instead because I saw everyone else with one and the buttons were just a lot cuter.

6. Website. I paid professionals to design it for me so I'd have my own web store. I hated the outcome and kept telling myself I'd redo it and wait to launch once I had sufficient stock made up. Never happened.

7. Glass studio. I spent an entire summer building it and ordering supplies. Maxed out a hefty credit line, waited all winter to be able to use it, cut back my hours at work to devote time to it, then got promoted and everything went out the window.

8. Getting organized. Every single time I try to better organize my life, I start by pulling everything out of closets, boxes, under the bed etc. Then I get too overwhelmed and leave it a complete mess until company comes to visit where I then promptly shove everything back where it came from. It's a vicious cycle.

9. Sublime Stitching. I bought both kits and a ton of patterns, made a mermaid apron that I wasn't that happy with and haven't touched it since. Although some wiener dog tea towels might be good for the future apartment.

10. Melty Beads. I bought two tubs of these with Brandi because it seemed retro and fun. D, Jay and Brandi are now addicted to them like crack. I made a watermelon slice and then lost interest. Now I just keep the open jar by my desk to occasionally plunge my hand in because I like that feeling. I do this at least twice a day.

I offered to try and help with the Alligator scarf, you never brought it in.
I am like this with all my projects. I start knitting something and wind up hating it half way through. I ask Em her opinion, she says "Mom, you never like anything while you're knitting it."

I will have to bring it in for reals then.

If it hasn't all fallen off the needles and tangled into a giant ball from hell.

I'll do my best, and if it has tangled, I'll bring it home to Em, she is the best untangler ever.

Oh, and ever since she saw D's Nintendo characters, Em has been asking for melty beads. Thanks for that. :)
